AMARETTO: everything you need to create your unique hand-dyed skein
Amaretto is a kit that combines the softness of Gentile Wool with the expert 100% natural dyeing techniques of the Officina del Colore Naturale.
A simple kit that will allow you to create your own color by following the recipe!
The kit is composed by:
- Instruction & Recipe
- 2/4/6 Mandorla Skeins, Mediterraneo Sport weight (50 g/175m)
- Natural dyeing, Madder plan-RED/Camping Wood-VIOLET
- Alum
- Cream of tartar
.
CAMPING WOOD-VIOLET: The camping tree is a leguminous plant. It was discovered and used as a valid substitute for indigo dye, although it is characterized by a more delicate blue. Today, it is used as an histological dye, capable of highlighting alterations in cancer cells.
MADDER ROOT-RED : The madder plant has been used for millennia to dye garments red. The color is extracted from the roots of plants that are at least 3 years old by simmering them in water. It has always been considered a valuable dye, difficult to obtain, yet very resistant to both washing and sunlight.
USEFUL INFORMATIONS
For the disposal of the dye and salt bath, you can safely use them to water flower pots. The color is very intense, but it washes off easily with lemon juice or Marseille soap. The skeins may leave some color on your hands, but the dyes won’t stain your clothes or skin.

- Lay fabric flat and shape to air dry.
