The Carissa is an evergreen shrub widely found in southern Italy. Its small white flowers give off a fragrance similar to jasmine, especially intense during the evening hours.
“Carissa” is an asymmetrical shawl with an unusual shape. All edges are finished with an i-cord, giving the shawl a more polished look.
The work begins from one tip with a simple pattern of twisted ribbing and lace on a reverse stockinette background.
Once the desired height is reached, the knitting continues with the main lace section: a spread of leaf motifs covering the entire surface of the shawl, appearing much more complex than it actually is. The final lace repeats are embellished with beads, adding elegance to the piece.
Gauge: 15 sts x 24 rows = 10 cm, worked following Lace Pattern B chart (after blocking).
Size: One size
Finished Measurements: Total length of the shawl: 190 cm

WET-BLOCKING
- Fill a sink or basin with cold water.
- Submerge the fabric in water, gently squeezing out any air bubbles so that the piece can remain under water without being held there.
- Soak work for 30 minutes or longer allowing fabric to become completely saturated.
- Remove excess moisture by rolling your fabric between clean, dry towels with light pressure.
- Lay fabric flat and shape to air dry.
