Orizzonte is the Italian word for “horizon”, a name I chose to honour the beautiful Italian yarn used for this design.
The combination of deep brown and blue, together with the horizontal colourwork panels, evokes the moment when the land meets the sea, making Orizzonte feel like the perfect name.
Fibre Gentili also beautifully describes the name as representing “looking ahead to something unknown that you can't wait to discover”. I love how this interpretation reflects the spirit of the design and adds another layer of meaning to it.
The sweater is worked from the top down in the round. First, the neckband is worked in 1×1 rib, followed by short rows to slightly raise the back of the neck. Next, a series of increases is worked together with colourwork. Once the yoke is complete, the body and sleeves are separated. The body is then worked in the round and finished with a hem in 1×1 rib. For the sleeves, stitches are placed back onto the needles, and additional stitches are picked up at the underarm. The sleeves are then worked in the round, with a series of decreases (sizes 2–10) and optional colourwork. Finally, the sleeves are finished with cuffs in 1×1 rib.
The colourwork part is fully charted.

THE WOOL

These sheep live the good life in the Basilicata region, roaming free among the ancient forests. Based in the Italian Biella textile district our supply chain is a well-guarded secret, ensuring quality and embracing social and environmental sustainability at every step.

THE FIBER PROCESS

All processing takes place in Biella's luxury textile district, home to ancient and invaluable craftsmanship where the human touch still makes a significant difference.

RECCOMENDED CARE

Handle our soft and delightful yarn with care. It's delicate nature requires gentle attention for a soft, airy fluff finish. Be mindful of its fragility when winding and knitting with it. With proper care, your final product will showcase the beauty of this yarn without any compromise in quality.

WET-BLOCKING

  1. Fill a sink or basin with cold water.
  2. Submerge the fabric in water, gently squeezing out any air bubbles so that the piece can remain under water without being held there.
  3. Soak work for 30 minutes or longer allowing fabric to become completely saturated.
  4. Remove excess moisture by rolling your fabric between clean, dry towels with light pressure.
  5. Lay fabric flat and shape to air dry.
